Fengzhi Zhao is an Assistant Professor in Department of Applied Linguistics. Before joining XJTLU, she did her Ph.D. at the Department of Languages, Cultures, and Applied Linguistics, Birkbeck, University of London. Her fields of research broadly fall into: sociolinguistics; linguistic landscape studies; discourse analysis; linguistic ethnography. She is generally interested in issues such as multilingualism; language, space and identity; sociolinguistics of globalization and cosmopolitanism.  She is currently working on projects related to language and affect in urban encounters; discourse and digital humanities; discursive constructions of subjects and communities during and after COVID epoch; ; language and aging in place; etc. Publications can be reached in ResearchGate: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Fengzhi-Zhao
